The Good, the Bad, and the Fugly!

The Good

It’s always nice to start with the good, right? I watched a Hornets game this weekend. It was Hornets vs. Golden State, a game I would typically not only ignore, but go out of my way to avoid. But instead, I watched it and truth be told…it was amazing!

I tried to go into the whole experience with an open mind instead of my typical “yay team, but I secretly could care less about what happens to you” attitude. I watched it like a fan with a deep seeded desire for them to win. When they were down, I was pissed and depressed. When they went up, I was on fire. I even came up with a few obnoxious chants (which I’ll withhold for now) to taunt the other team with from the comforts of my sofa. It was exhilarating. Plus, some of the schweaty mens were easy on the eyes, making the whole concept of basketball that much easier to grasp.

I learned the meaning of a “3-second violation” and “boxing out the offense.” And thanks to Chris Paul, I now know what a “triple double means,” beyond it’s reference in an Ice Cube song. I got really excited about the prospect of the Hornets being first in the West going into the playoffs and maybe even winning a Championship.

Could this fairweather one day be a true Hornets fan? If Chris Paul keeps seducing me with his eyes and boyish charm, I’d bank on it.

The Bad

Two NFL players face charges of being total jackasses after getting locked in the slammer this past week. Police say they busted Cleveland Browns defensive back Kenny Wright with marijuana in his car. Instead of just dealing with the repercussions of the pot bust, Wright made the wrong move of trying to outrun police through a subdivision near Houston. He could face up to a year in jail on the unlawful restraint charge alone. Big dummy.

Meanwhile, former Bengal Chris Henry went for the Bengals’ equivalent of the ”triple double”, known within the team’s inner-circle of parolees as the “double-trouble”; he got arrested and lost his job. On Monday, he was arrested after being accused of punching a man in the face and breaking his car window. The Bengals decided to cut his ass from the team before his release from jail on Friday night. Henry has been arrested FIVE times since December of 2005. We’re thinking this latest stint makes him a shoe-in for this year’s CHICK-SPY for “Most Likely to Rob a Bank Before Winning a Ring.”

The Fugly

Have you been to NFL Shop lately? There’s a lot of cool, new stuff out there for us Saints fans. There’s also some top-notch vomit-inducing merchandise for the fan who doesn’t know when enough is enough.

For example:

From the \

From the “Gay Santa” Collection

Nothing says \

For the woman who owns a “Bedazzler.”

The Fonz Called, He Wants his 1950\'s rebellion back.

“The Fonz” called. He wants his subtle 1950s rebellion back.

For the CEO who had everything....

Sorry Brick, but I don’t love lamp. (To those who got that obscure “Anchorman” reference, I salute you!)
