Notes from Saints Camp

An Order of Porter

Rookie cornerback Tracy Porter has finally signed with the Saints. The 4-year contract is reportedly worth 4.2 million dollars. Porter will be competing with Randall Gay, Jason David, Greg Fassitt, and the injured Mike McKenzie for a starting job. (We hear that if he can resist the urge to peek into the backfield on back to back drives, David’s done.)

Breakout the Bush

You’ve heard it from the Chicks, now it’s being confirmed by the man himself. This will be Reggie Bush’s breakout year. Why you ask? Because he says so, silly! Bush told reporters on Friday that he’d like to have 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving this season. According to a report in nola.com, the overconfident Bush says

“I plan to be in the Pro Bowl, and I plan to, definitely, for us to make an appearance in the playoffs, if not the Super Bowl. I just plan to have a really good all-around year, as a running back, and to be up there with the top three or four running backs this year.”

Weird Reggie. I seem to remember planning for all those things in 2007. But let’s just go with your plan.

Rumor Has It…

The Saints are in the market for former Raiders running back Lamont Jordan. Jordan got the stiff arm from team officials who released him on Friday despite two years left in his contract. The Saints are among several teams that have expressed interest in the 7-year veteran. Saints Coach Sean Payton says while the team would love to add Jordan to the fold, they weren’t willing to trade for him.

Last season, Jordon racked up a dismal 549 yards and an abysmal 434 in 2006 thanks to ongoing back problems. I say we offer him no more than a couple thousand dollars and a lifetime supply of Ramen Noodles. And not those fancy “name brand” Smack Ramen noodles. I’m talking the generic brand you find in Sam’s Club.

I plan to have a really great year as a fan. I’m starting my own conditioning plan right now. We are starting off with shrimp po boys, then a light repetition series of Abita beers.

Seriously. I am so excited about the season starting again. I have home opener tix and can’t wait to get to NOLA. Will you be there? I’d love to meet you.

This sounds like in plain English: my ass is on the line this year. Mickey Loomis has told me that I have to deliver AT LEAST 1,000 yards OR ELSE!

Please keep in mind that Mr. Bush is from the West coast. These men have a profound art of eloquently speaking (that’s English for bull sh@tting! LOL)

If you do London, nola chick…send me an email. Maybe we all can meet up and hang out and have tea at high noon (smile)!
