Chick Chow/Chick Sips: Meaty Breast of Leinart Soup with Cardinals Sin-gria

With training camp behind us and the preseason ahead of us, I, the Mother Hen, have been trying to get into kickoff shape. I’ve been sharpening my beak and testing tasty new delicacies to whet our appetites as we watch our boys in black and gold eat up their opponents.

With the first preseason game against the Cardinals taking place on a Thursday night, I wanted to provide you a quick, easy dinner so that all our little chicks can be ready for the kickoff. And for this game’s gastronomical feast, I give you a most appropriate dish named in honor of Mr. Man-Boobs himself, Cardinals QB Matt Leinart. Below the chicks present: Meaty Breast of Leinart Soup with Cardinals Sin-gria to wash it all down!

Ingredients:
1 chicken, cut-up
1 package of dry onion soup
1 can of cream of mushroom
1 TBS of Butcher’s Bouquet
Egg noodles

Preparation:
Thoroughly rinse and dry the bird. In a large pot, mix the onion soup, the cream of celery soup, the Butcher’s Bouquet, and one can of water until blended. Place chicken in the pot, the whole time cursing the Cardinals and sending them evil thoughts. Place in the oven and bake at 1 ½ hours at 350 degrees. (Keep in mind folks that ovens do vary so just make sure that the chicken is cooked or you will have a raw bird on your hands…)

About thirty minutes before the chicken is ready, boil some water and cook the egg noodles, following the directions on the package. Once ready, place the chicken on top of the noodles and enjoy this wonderful little meal. A great side dish would either be peas or carrots—both delectable and healthy.

Cardinal Sin-Gria

1 bottle of your favorite white wine (We prefer to use Riesling)

2 ounces Triple Sec

1/2 cup Peach Schnapps

1 can sliced Peaches

2 tsp brown sugar

1/3 cup fine granulated sugar

1/4 cup orange juice

1 mango sliced

Grab a big pitcher, toss in the fruit and sugar. Then pour in the wine, Triple Sec, Peach Schnapps and orange juice. Mix well and refrigerate overnight. Replace your mimosa with this mix at breakfast. Make sure you get a few pieces of fruit in your glass. They’ll be loaded with booze!

That is one unattractive chest on a former Heisman winner. Who in the world is his trainer?

    Dear Mother Hen,
Thank you for calling graphic attention to the meaty man boob of Matt Leinart. As you may know, Cafe 641 remains closed on away games, choosing instead to work in the test kitchen on recipes for the Superdome. Because we like to keep it real in the Upper Terrace, and nothing is more real than the douche-tastic legal action of a certain ATL bartender (http://chef-who-dat.blogspot.com/2008/08/we-can-mix-it-if-we-want-it.html), I’m writing to say that the Cafe 641 legal team has reviewed your recipe thoroughly and found that it is completely original and does not violate a single registered or trademarked item from the Cafe 641 archives, which likely does not exist and if it did is neither registered nor trademarked. Keep up the good work! Who Dat.

    Dear Chef:

Maybe one of these days we should get together for a cook-off and send the sauces a-flyin!

And, all of the Mother Hen’s dishes are original recipes, created by her talons…By the way, do hens have talons?

    Cheers!
