Chick Chow-Chick Sips: Cajun Grilled Redskin Potatoes & Bro Sweets and Sour Tea

Here’s the good news Saints fans: We don’t need Marques Colston to beat the Redskins. Here’s the better news: One of our division rivals is guaranteed a loss this weekend…either the Bucs or the Falcons, as they’ll play each other in an NFC South battle this Sunday in Tampa Bay. Oh football gods, how you’ve smiled on me!

Since I plan on tailgating at this weekend’s game at FedEx Field, I felt it necessary for this week’s Chick Chow to reflect the spirit of outdoor grilling. As for the Chick Sip, well…any old excuse to show that picture of Clinton Portis. Besides, nothing says ‘I’m drunk as a skunk’ like dressing up in a yellow wig and heart-shaped glasses and calling yourself ‘Bro Sweets.’

So prepare to watch our team win and one of our enemies lose with full bellies and drunken eyes thanks to this week’s Chick Chow and Chick Sips: Cajun Broiled Redskin Potatoes & Bro Sweets & Sour Tea.

Cajun Broiled Redskin Potatoes

3 lbs Redskin Potatoes (cut into wedges)

3 tsp olive oil

3 tsp chopped, fresh rosemary

3 chopped garlic cloves

5 tsp chopped parsley

Sea Salt

Cayenne Pepper

Black pepper

Creole Seasoning

1 tsp Crab Boil

Place pre-boiled potatoes on a sheet of foil. Drizzle with olive oil and crab boil and toss with fresh ingredients. Fold over the foil and place it on the grill. Turn potatoes over every 2 minutes and remove when the potatoes turn golden brown. Once they’re ready, take the potatoes off the grill and sprinkle with remaining seasoning to taste.

Bro Sweets and Sour Tea

1/2 oz Spiced Rum

1/2 oz Whiskey

1/2 oz Gin

3/4 Sweet and Sour Mix

Splash Coca Cola

Mix up all the liquor. Mix in the sweet and sour and the coca cola. Add ice, shake it all up, and prepare not to see straight.

  1. Oh that sounds like some very good football watching food!

Although I still want Colston and his thumb back on the field ASAP!

  2. Outstanding. At my house, we’re doing a boil Sunday. Never even occurred to me that it shall contain several pounds of RED SKIN potatoes. Serendipity, baby! Gotta love it. And crab boil. Gotta love the crab boil.

  3. Oh esteemed away game Chef, please impale me a hog tomorrow. After Drew drops 4 bills on them, we’ll do ourselves a cochon de lait proper.

  4. I’m going to be misbehaving at home and ignoring the fan code of conduct. Saints are on the TV here!

  5. It’s definitely the bro sweets and sour tea that’s got me queasy this morning. Or maybe it was the 400+ yards of Redskins offense. hard to say…
