Hit It and Quit It Tuesdays

Hit it!
The Saints’ brand new kicker Garrett Hartley went 2/2 on field goals against Atlanta. Yay…

Quit it!
Um…did Deuce McAllister tell a bad “yo momma” joke to Rita Benson’s kids? Did he lay a finger on Sean Payton’s Butterfinger? I’m just trying to figure out why he barely touched the ball on Sunday. There’s gotta be some logical explanation…right? I’m over begging for the chance to let one of our most solid players play.

Hit it!
The new punter Glenn Pakulak didn’t look so bad either. (Yeah I know, I’m reaching…)

Quit it!
Jeremy Shockey’s got one more game to underperform before he officially joins the ranks of free agency busts.

Hit it!
Deuce McAllister (in one of the few times he actually got to set foot on the field) scored his first receiving touchdown since 2002.

Quit it!
It’d be nice if we could sack a quarterback every now and again. Yeah, yeah…I know Charles Grant is out. But whatev. That’s a piss poor excuse for a lackluster (and well paid) front four. Man up. So help me God, somebody better lay Tyler Thigpen’s ass out next Sunday.

Hit it!
Um, let’s see. Uh….ooh! Billy Miller made an incredible 4th quarter catch. He’s definitely going all out to win my heart this season.

Quit it!
So should Drew Brees pretty much take to the field with a machete next game or will our offensive line actually step up to offer some kind of protection? Just askin…

Hit it!
We just signed a new defensive back, Leigh Torrence of the Redskins.

Quit it!
We needed another defensive back because the injury curse of 2008 has snatched Mike McKenzie off our starting lineup and landed him back on the IR list.

Hit it!
(Sighs…) Um…I don’t know. At least people in New Orleans can buy booze on Sunday…and from drug stores and grocery stores too. Take that Atlanta!!! (We sure as hell will need the liquor if this keeps up.)

Did anyone else watch the video on nfl.com before the season, the “NFL Diaries” bit? It was this inside look at training camp, filmed on a camcorder by Hollis Thomas.

All in all it was pretty funny. It had a good bit with Adrian Arrington (remember him?), and Hollis was good for a couple jokes. Fun stuff.

But I just keep thinking about this one moment. The whole team is eating in the mess hall, and Hollis is sitting next to Will Smith. And Hollis is like,
“Will, what were you thinking when you were signing that contract?”

And Smith just smiles and says,
    “Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, baby.”

    What a dick.

    I, I, just, I. sigh.

I am putting this into words. Sean Payton does not have discipline. I feel just like I did a couple years into Haslett’s tenure. They had early success and now everything’s gone to pot. The way they play week in and week out is like they are still in preseason – trying things out to see what works. There is no consistent plan.
