Um…What?

It seems like only yesterday we were pointing and laughing after Andy Reid’s decision to bench Donovan McNabb. Today, the Eagles are headed to the NFC Championship game. It was yesterday when we were saying the Cardinals had no shot at beating a team that beat the Saints twice. Low and behold, they too are headed to the NFC Championship game. Um…what?

I don’t care how much of a die-hard you are for either of these teams, you can’t tell me that 5 weeks ago you saw this coming. The Eagles were a Bucs win against the Raiders away from not even making the playoffs. The Cardinals limped their way into postseason, having lost 3 of their last 6 games, including a week 16 beat down at the hands of the Patriots. Not to mention the way the Panthers were steam rolling defenses going into the playoffs. Who knew the Cardinals would hold them to just 13 points? I mean really? Really?

Now comes the hard point: making our alliances. This is gonna be tough people. I love Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Brian Dawkins and Andy Reid. I’d want nothing more than for them to FINALLY get their rings. But then I think of Eagles fans. Oh those obnoxious Eagles fans I’ve encountered over my years. Can I really stomach bringing joy to their lives?

And what about the Cardinals? Edgerrin James got a raw deal when he left the Colts just one season before they won the Super Bowl. Sure they gave him a pity ring, but wouldn’t it be nice if this kid could win one of his own? Of course, I do enjoy the Cardinals keeping the Saints company as one of six Super Bowl teams never to make a Super Bowl appearance.

This may have to be a game time decision.

Well, if it helps tip your hand, I think this might be Dawkins’ last season. Wouldn’t it be nice to send him off into retirement with a nice, big Super Bowl ring?

This has been one crazy season. I am a McNabb fan because of my SU fandom, and they have been so close, and TO jerked them around so hard.
But, Warner is a good guy that got beat up bad, and my brother has lived in Phoenix area 20 years and ???
I will say, this was one crazy year of up and down on lots of teams. A few were always strong…umm…Pittsburgh. And a few really sucked bad … Oakland and Detroit. And in between were all kinds of weird stories of up then down or down then up.
Love the site! Love NOLA! Be back in March…

all valid points my fellow chicks. what amazes me is how much people are underestimating the the cardinals. i personally think the eagles will win, but i’m not confident it will be the walk in the park some are predicting.

    thanks for the props boatdrinks!

Is it sad that I’ll root for the Ravens because they have the coolest team colors of the bunch that are remaining?

Here in the freezing North, we’re dreaming of the perfect “storm…” an all PA Super bowl! Even though Rotheliesberger has been inconsistent since scrambling his egg in his ‘cycle crash (what does it say about his brain, not wearing a helmet in the first place??), ya gotta love Willie “Make it” Parker and Troy Polamalu and Coach Mike Singletary. And my Birds consider those cardinals small prey! It will be a loud Sunday at my house, guar-awn-TEED!
