Lets Make a Deal…Seriously

saints-louisiana

Lets be clear here; the Saints aren’t going anywhere. Sorry LA. Too bad San Antonio. Sucks to be you Pluto. You see they’re the New Orleans Saints…and that’s that. With that said, I’d be lying if I said I don’t mini-fart bricks each day that goes by and the team doesn’t renew its contract with the state. (Did I really just type “mini-fart”? Gross.)

Luckily, there’s some positive news brewing to ease the bubble guts of us Saints fans. According to WWL Radio, the state is close to closing a long term deal with the team. State negotiators are so confident they’ll extend the team’s contract past 2010 that they’re putting in a bid for the 2013 Super Bowl this spring. Nice. (Hmm…our defense should be rebuilt by then. Perfect timing for some home field advantage!!!)

What isn’t known is what that deal entails. Could it bring a new stadium to the city? Does it mean the state will be forced to fork over millions of dollars it likely can’t afford? Does it mean a naming rights deal for the Superdome is FINALLY in the works? Will Bobby Jindal have to get a fleur-de-lis tattooed on his head when he runs for President in 2012? Will Nagin have to resist the urge to speak? Will the Chicks have to stop drinking? How high a price will we have to pay to make this thing work? I eagerly await the details. And let the record reflect, I’m willing to pay the ultimate price.
