Leonard Davis, Marc Colombo and Cory Procter are all part of a heavy metal band called Free Reign. They recently signed a recording contract and their debut album will be released this fall.

Isn’t that nice?

No. The answer to that question is, uh, NO. It’s actually quite disturbing on a number of levels.

When I first read this, I thought “Really?”

Not ‘really’ as in ‘Wow, football players in a heavy metal band. Talk about multi talented.’

But, ‘really’ as in ‘Are you f#(@ing kidding me? This is unacceptable! Shouldn’t they be at the GYM? Not headbanging in one of their parent’s garages?’

Ok, maybe they’re not actually practicing in anyone’s garage (or even headbanging. Whatever that is. I don’t know how that word even came out of my fingertips) but that’s not the point.

The point is I have a real aversion to my players doing anything outside of football football football – like golf, blonde pop singers, vacationing in Mexico – those sorts of things. They’re not pigskin related and it really bothers me.

And, it’s very hard for me to talk about Marc Colombo this way. We both went to BC (he went there undergrad; I went there for law school). We’re both Eagles. And, I just love him. Sometimes, I want to reach through the television and just bite his cheeks (the ones on his FACE).

But, I’m sorry to say, I just cannot condone this behavior. Is this how your mother raised you?! I ask all three of them. Huh? Playing music instead of football. Disgraceful!
