Who she is: Shae Peppler, the new female announcer/spokesperson for ABC in Chicago’s Sunday morning football show “Chicago Huddle.”

How she got the gig: The old fashioned way … a contest. “One of my best guy friends said you should try out for this. He saw it in a newspaper ad,” Peppler says. “I thought ‘How embarrassing.’”

But, the friend convinced Peppler and when she arrived at the audition, she says “You would have thought it was American Idol auditions. I instantly got nervous. I thought maybe this could be a good thing.”

Peppler made it through several rounds of the competition until it was down to two ladies – Peppler and another Sideline Sexy Jennifer Wicks. In the end, Chicago Huddle decided to go with both ladies who will appear on the show on alternating weeks.

Her team of choice: The Bears, of course.

How her interest in pigskin began: From birth. “When you grow up in Chicago, it’s in your blood. It’s a really big sports town,” Peppler says. She even minored in sports marketing at Indiana University.

What guys/friends/family think of her interest in football: Not that surprised. “Everyone knows I love sports and the energy behind it. I’m a girly girl though so if you didn’t know that about me, I guess you’d be surprised.”

And of her new gig: Excited! “They’ve all kind of come to the tapings and they think it’s really fun.”

Biggest fan frenemy: Grandma!! “My whole dad’s side of the family is from Wisconsin. My grandma will poke fun at me once in awhile. She’ll say ‘The Packers game is on tonight, Shae.’ and I’ll say ‘No, Grandma, it’s the Bears game.’”
