Bucs Trade Perennial Quit It

Last night, the Bucs traded the largely ineffectual DE Gaines Adams to Chicago for a second round draft pick. Gaines was the 4th overall pick in 2007 and had yet to live up to his potential in Tampa.

By all accounts, Gaines has become a hard-worker in the offseason, but that never translated to field. Adams has only had 1 sack and 10 tackles in the first five games this year.

This sets the stage for Stylez G White to take over as starter, but the Tampa media (like the Tampa Tribune, here) seem to think that the team might be looking for an instant replacement via another trade. The trade deadline is Tuesday.

I guess this is going to make life much easier in terms of the whole “never repeat a Quit It” plan, since Gaines landed on that list nearly every week.

So to celebrate, let’s go ahead and send a pre-game Hit It out to GM Mark Dominik for making the most of a potential draft bust. And hopefully Rod Marinelli will be able to whip Adams into shape up there in Chicago.
