…and we’re going to just pretend like last Sunday didn’t happen. Seriously, except to mention that:
-I couldn’t feel my
toes for 3+ hours even though I was wearing my cute Miley-style boots
-I exhibited GREAT restraint and didn’t indulge in any $8 beers
-My seats were amazing and afforded me the perfect position for Terrell stalking taking pictures of the team
-I met with the sweetest new friends (thank you, Twitter) and got to warm up for the last 10 minutes of the game
…except for those four things, we’re never thinking about or discussing October 11, 2009 ever again. And this is also the last negative post. After thisĀ weekend, there’s no point crying over what could have been. Instead, we’ll look ahead to how not to repeat this season, next season.
This Sunday’s game is bound to be a trainwreck, but hey, you never know. I happen to loathe the Jets more than almost any other team in the league (it’s a tie with New England) so I’ll be avoiding communication with my friends and uncle for about the next week-and-a-half. When it comes to football rivalry, no communication is good communication–it’s how you preserve relationships.
So, what’s in store for this weekend? Let’s take a look.
The Jets are coming off two hard losses…especially last Monday’s against Miami (I was so excited, I almost got confused and thought I was a fan of the fish for a second!), so they’re going to be out for blood this week. They’re also probably thinking that crushing the Bills will be a piece of cake. I hope they’re thinking that and I hope the Bills puncture their bubble of ego just like Miami did. Losing to a 1-3 team was bad enough–losing to a 1-4 team might put them in their place. But who’s getting confident or excited here?–certainly not me.
The Jets’ defense operated in serious beastmode for the first three games. Then, it kind of fizzled and although they’re expected to make a revival attempt this week, let’s hope our offense got a miraculous (and long overdue) reality check and brings some serious heat to the Meadowlands. (NOTE TO BILLS OFFENSE: THE GAME STARTS AT 4 p.m. NOT 1 p.m, 8:30 p.m. or Monday)
Terrell did have 4 catches for 40ish yards last game. If he could have 4 catches AGAIN but maybe double or triple the yardage and throw in some TDs, that’d be great. Bell, Levitre, Wood…do you hear me right now?! Please stop those big guys running towards Trent!!! Grab their ankles, lunge at their knees, play patty cake, just keep them away! (You should, however, avoid holding and false starts. Those=bad). That’s the key to making use of the $6.3 million we’re paying Terrell and a good way to help Trent have a career.
The Jets have Sanchez but it’s very possible we might have Donte Whitner and Paul Posluzny back for Sunday. Although we lost Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs, having Poz and Whit on the field will make it a little harder for Sanchez not to look like a rookie.
Jauron was feeling the heat before but now…he’s practically chillin’ in the fire. Poor Ralph Wilson doesn’t even have a word for current events except “awful.” However, now that Jauron’s literally staring down death (of his career) maybe he’ll have an epiphany and suddenly know how to coach and win. Then again, maybe not.
GO BILLS!
