Let’s “Hit it and Quit it”

Image = thumbs-up-downFinally, finally, finally there’s something to hit! The game was far from painful and far from amazing but the Bills won so they must have done something “hit it”-worthy to do it. It’s time to “Hit it and Quit it!”

Hit it! Ryan Fitzpatrick. I’ll be honest, I really didn’t like you during preseason. You did little to impress me–in fact–you mildly disgusted me (too harsh? nahhh) with your incompletions, flimsy throws, sacks and overall lack of spunk. But after Sunday’s performance I’ve had a change of heart and I’d like to take this moment to personally apologize for the distaste I felt towards you…and the not very friendly words I may have previously posted on here. Thank you for throwing the ball. Thank you for finally finding Lee. Thank you for actually moving the ball and converting third downs–when you marched 64 yards in only 6 plays that ended in a TD, it brought tears to my eyes. As my girl Chelsea Handler would say, “I give you my blessing.”

Quit it!…concussions. Edwards got the second concussion of his career and is currently waiting for the results of his tests. TE Shawn Nelson also suffered a concussion and his status is uncertain. Based on Fitzpatrick’s ability to actually do something with the ball, I can’t say I’ll be all broken up about it if Edwards can’t play against Carolina. If Nelson can’t play, however, I’ll be slightly perturbed because he can actually catch the ball when Edwards throws it…imagine what he could do if Fitzpatrick was in control.

Hit it! Lee Evans. The slant pass you caught and returned 37 yards for a TD is exactly why I’ve loved you from the beginning…and why I painted your number on my face for the Oct.11 game. :)

Quit it! Dick Jauron. I can’t say you did anything to drastically upset me, but I’m sorry, I still don’t like you. There were times when Bills fans everywhere were pulling their hair out and yelling at the TV and taking imaginary shots (I know all this because Twitter told me so) and you were standing on the sidelines stone faced. Seriously, not an ounce of emotion…I mean, you didn’t even look COLD!

Quit it again! Penalties, penalties, penalties. I specifically talked to the offensive lineman about holding and false starts in last week’s post. Apparently, they didn’t listen. Also…getting called for 12 men on the field…really?!!! Get it together boys, get it together.

Quit itjust one more! Run defense. I understand you guys are hurting (literally) real bad with all these injuries, but if you could manage to not give up 318 yards next week at Carolina, that would be great. Thanks.

Hit it! Rian Lindell. I can forgive you for missing the potentially game-winning 47-yard FG that would have saved me a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety. But you made the 46-yarder when it mattered and I can forgive you because I understand that there were some elements beyond your control, like: the CBS announcers jinxed you, you were kicking into tricky wind and nobody’s perfect (“Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days. Everyone knows what, what I’m talkin’ about. Everyone gets that way!”)<–whoever knows what that song is gets…a whole post about why you think you’re the biggest Bills fan. Comment now!
We might still have more “quit its” than “hit its” but we’re getting there–slowly but surely. And even one “hit it” is better than no “hit it” at all. Ok, I refuse to type any combination of “hit, it and quit” until next Tuesday…wayyy overused in this post!

GO BILLS!!!
