The Steelers are 5-2. Yours truly had the pleasure of going to the game with her lovely parents last Sunday to see how the Steelers became 5-2.
It wasn’t the best game all around (Vikings dominated nearly all of the stats), but it was certainly exciting. I think I took a good 10 years off of my life with the interception…then run back after the kick off…then interception.
It wasn’t the offensive brawl that everyone was expecting. Ben was kept pretty quiet. Mendenhall had a huge fumble at the 4-yard line to give the Vikings a shot to come back. But the Steelers D finally stepped it up in the fourth quarter. I needed a couple of days to take it all in and think about the awesomeness that was that game. What can I say, the Steelers like to keep my adrenaline pumping.
Watching Woodley run over 70 yards was one of the highlights of the season. Looked like he was going in slow motion for those last 10 yards. And Keyaron Fox? Remember him? Timmons went out of the game with an injury, and Fox was able to intercept Favre at the very end, at a time of the game Favre loves the most. The comeback kid (or guy who just won’t retire) ended the game with his face in the dirt. It was how we in Steel Town like to see any opposing quarterback.
It was an amazing game. It was a lot of fun. It made me want to move back to Pittsburgh (if only I had thousands of dollars to afford season tickets). The ups and downs of the game made it that much more exciting and fun to watch.
Bye week coming up for the Steelers. A great time for the team to relax and recover. Mike Tomlin even gave the veterans the week off. Not sure about that move, but Denver is always a tough, physical game in that high altitude, so we’ll wait and find out if Tomlin will regret this decision. I certainly hope not! And I hope the Broncos are still undefeated when we see them. It’s fun knockin’ off these undefeated teams.
