Lions…Out to Sea. Again.

Dear Drew Brees and Brett Favre:

I know yall will be busy for longer than we will, but in the offseason, can you please hold a training camp exclusively for Matt Stafford? (Sanchez, since you’re a winner, you can come as a Teacher’s Assistant)

Dear GM Martin Mayhew and COO Tom Lewand:

I get it. If I spend $40 million on something, I want to use it, too. But are we really going to sacrifice this entire season to allow Matt to feel this starting NFL QB thing out? I guess we gotta let him make his mistakes…I’m just checking with y’all on this one: we’re OK not winning games in the meantime, right?
I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and rationalize that no other rookie QB has ever walked into a worse situation.

But as the game went on and his INTS went up to 3, 4, then 5…well, that’s all his fault. And that last one was with 22 seconds left, which Seattle’s Josh Wilson ran 61 yards for an insulting touchdown just to seal the game.

Things started well enough. I tuned in at halftime to find that my boys jumped out the gate with a 17-0 lead. But then came the kickoff and the KICKER had to run the returner out of bounds! And this happened TWICE! ARE YALL SERIOUS????

So the lead began to dwindle (thanks to a complete defensive lack coverage), and then the lead changed. 25-17 with 10 minutes left.
Any other team? You’d go 8 points in 10 minutes? That’s PLENTY of time! But for this team? Yea, 10 minutes was plenty of time – to give the game away.

And I swear, a new Lion got injured on every play. Ernie Sims was out, Kevin Smith had a nagging shoulder, then Marquand Manuel and Louis Delmas. I mean, really? Go sit your sensitive butts down sumwhere…cuz it ain’t like you come to play.

The highlight of the game, for me though, was a visibly P.O.’d Calvin Johnson – who showed me a side I’ve never seen before. At one point, Matt Stafford was on the sideline trying to say something to Calvin. And homeboy just turned to the side, like he didn’t even see the kid. Face was all frowned up. Grrrr…. i luv it, CJ!

The one good thing about the game is that it was actually televised this week! (Since it wasn’t a home game, which ppl no longer buy tickets to.) But after that performance, I remembered I haven’t been missing much.
