So does anyone have a prediction for this game? Believe it or not, I certainly don’t. The Broncos get schooled by the Ravens last week. They’re currently 6-1…with a lot of experts wondering if they’re really as good as their record says. The Steelers are 5-2 after beating the previously undefeated Vikings, and the question remains: Will the bye week hurt or help them tonight?
It’s gonna be a great match-up for these two AFC beasts. I’m worried about Elvis Dumervil, who’s racking up quite a bit of sacks. Yep, this guy is another outside linebacker wearing #92 giving offenses hell. Our O-line always comes under a lot of scrutiny, yet I feel like they’re holding their own this season. Hopefully Big Ben is working on not holding onto the ball as long as he usually does, which is why he gets sacked so often. Good luck with Dumervil, Max Starks.
Unfortunately, we don’t do all that well against the Broncos. The Broncos are 20-9-1 on Monday Night Football at home, and we’ve only won 2 games out of the past 8 meetings. Their D is scary. So is ours. The Broncos are ranked #1 in total defense and fewest points. We’re #1 against the run and haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher in 29 freakin’ games. Whoever comes out on top really depends on who wants it more.
As Gerry Dulac says in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “Over the past four decades, the series has been punctuated by punches to the stomach, record-setting performances, ballyhooed debuts, botched shotgun snaps, last-minute heroics, too many interceptions, and one dropped pass that not only cost the Steelers a playoff victory but also sent the players into near-mutiny a year later when the offense was overhauled.” Couldn’t have put it better myself. This is a long, storied rivalry that should be a lot of fun to watch.
Now can you see why I can’t make any predictions for this game?
