This turnover bug of Drew’s has me worried. Is H1N1 catching up to him? Does he have a fever? Is there enough Vitamin C in his system?
I pondered these questions last week as I reviewed tape from the Saints game with the Rams. In my 37 years on this planet, I’ve never been as angry with a Saints victory as I was with this one. In fact, I don’t ever recall being upset with a Saints victory. Hell, I would beam from ear to ear when they won a preseason game, much less one during the regular season.
There were times last week where Brees looked downright anemic with his costly turnovers. There’s never been a better time for Drew to rid himself of his turnover blues than against the Buccaneers. He faces a Bucs defense ranked 29th in total yards given up. Even I could run against them since they surrender a high of 167 yards on the ground per game. If facing them isn’t enough of a remedy for Brees’ malady, then I don’t know what is.

After Drew eats my soup...
Today, I offer you a simple soup, choc full of vitamins and antioxidants to rid anyone of the sniffles, sneezes, and cough-ups. Enjoy the Buc’in Broccoli Soup and stay healthy because no one wants to be ill when the undefeated (that’s right, I said it) Saints face the New England Patriots come Monday night in the Louisiana Superdome.
Buc’in Broccoli Soup
2-3 large cloves of garlic, halved
3 tablespoons of olive oil
32 ounces of chicken stock
32 ounces of water
Salt and pepper to taste
1 package of frozen broccoli
Pasta (egg noodles or spaghetti cut into fourths)
In a large saucepan, sauté the garlic in olive oil until the garlic is about to brown, about two minutes. Fill the saucepan with the chicken stock and water. Add salt and pepper to taste. Allow to boil and then add the frozen broccoli. Reduce to low heat and let simmer for 45 minutes. Add pasta and cook until done. Top with Parmesan cheese.
