Hit it and Quit it – Special Wednesday Edition

It’s not often that my Titans play on Monday night, but if waiting for an MNF game means winning, I’ll take it!

Four in a row. Just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? Well, maybe not. But that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the sweet ring it has. After the embarrassing six-week slide into the dungeon of the power rankings, Tennessee has stepped up their game – BIG TIME. This win against Houston wasn’t easy, but what’s that saying? Oh yeah – A WIN IS A WIN! This one seems extra special though, mainly because I actually got to watch it.

Hit it: Kris Brown! Okay, so maybe Kris isn’t on the Titans roster. You caught me. But his two missed field goals (including one at the end of regulation to seal Tennessee’s victory) REALLY helped me out. I may have been more excited for his misses than Rob Bironas’ 53-yarder to give Tennessee the lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter. So thank you Kris Brown. Thanks for choosing to ignore your chance for redemption after that missed kick against the Colts. It really helped the Titans out.

Quit it: Monday Night Football announcers! I thought that I didn’t mind the MNF crew this season. I thought the combo of Ron Jaworski, Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden would prove to be insightful, sometimes funny, but above all, not mind-numbingly obvious. I admit that I may know more about the Titans than the average bear, but that doesn’t mean the announcers have to say the most inane things to fill up their time. There is no excuse for the CONSTANT talk about Vince Young’s off-season problems. That was LAST SEASON. Get over it please. I almost wish it would have been too loud in the bar I was at to hear the T.V.

Hit it: Kenny Britt! Way to go on your first touchdown as a pro, Kenny! After a great start to the season, Britt finally got into the end zone. He made a few other key grabs in the game, but more importantly, he did a great job filling in for the still-injured Justin Gage. Young to Britt may not be the new QB/WR power couple, but I’m loving it so far!

Quit it: Turnovers! I don’t want to be nit-picky, but that V.Y. fumble could have been a lot more costly. Let’s keep the turnovers to a minimum, boys!

Hit it: Vincent Fuller! Having to come in mid-drive to replace Pro-Bowler Michael Griffin is no easy task, but Fuller made it look too easy. He sacked Matt Schaub on his first play – and it was a great sack (especially seeing as Kyle Vanden Bosch sacked Schaub the very next down!). Being capable as a back-up is one thing. Being able to make an impact right off the bench is quite another.

… why not, let’s have another Hit it: Vince Young and the whole run defense! I secretly love game stats (although my intense hatred of math would like to have a word with me about that), especially when my team wins. My favorite stat from the Titans/Texans game? Vince Young had more rushing yards than the entire Texans team.
