Jive Turkey…part 1

This Sunday, the Jets attempt to shake off post Thanksgiving drowsiness and a nasty little three game losing streak against the Panthers, in what should more properly be titled-the battle to not end up 4-7.

The Panthers have struggled as well, and are coming off a tough Thursday night loss to the Dolphins. Not good, and the way Delhomme has been playing-one has to wonder how he still has a job…unless you follow the Jets too.

Having decided that the real problem on defense is Kerry Rhodes’ ineptitude, he’s been benched in favor of Eric Smith. I’m sure this will resonate somewhere-just not so much with the fans. Only each man’s play will determine if this is really a good idea or more trouble waiting to happen.

As for the rest of the team, we’re forced to wonder aloud once again when Ryan and company will admit that Pete Carroll properly scouted Sanchez, and how many interceptions he’ll throw. I’m also wondering how many passes will be dropped-as Edwards and the rest of the receiving corps have gone from pretty sure handed to pass droppers a go go.

If the Jets expect to win this contest-they’ll definitely have to keep the turnovers to a minimum. They will also need to stop the run. Seriously. D’Angelo Williams is a farkin beast. The Jets haven’t exactly been lights out lately with stopping the run, and stopping an elite back will definitely be a challenge.

Here’s hoping they can get back on the good foot. I miss reviewing and previewing shiny happy games where gang green triumphs. I’m tired of people questioning my sanity because I turn into a basket case every weekend.

I’ll just make sure to fix my plate of leftovers before the game, and hope I won’t feel like throwing them up because the Jets have fallen further out of contention.
