There was sure to be some magic that day. We were, after all, coming from Chicago and New Jersey to the Eighth Wonder of the World, to the Holy Land, to Mecca, or as my fiancée calls Dallas, Jerusalem. (If you find that at all offensive, I am sincerely sorry. Oh and you might want to stop reading right about here. Thanks. Hey, I hear that Billy Graham has a lovely blog. Shalom!)
It wasn’t long after we took our seats that the light shone down from above and He started speaking directly to me (and 80,000 other people). The light was coming from, of course, the largest television in the world spanning from each 20 yard line and He, of course, was Keith Brooking. It was a message from Brooking telling us not to commit adultery and respect thy mother and father and to cheer real loud.
Then, the game began and the deacon, Jerry Jones, made sure we were all equipped with bibles orange ‘Touchdown’ signs. And that, I suppose, is how you can trace back the real magic that happened that day.
Before the game, there was the usual hearsay and prophecies. “Look for me in the crowd at the game.” “See you on TV.” Haha. Blah Blah.
And then the touchdown. And my brother in law holds up the bible orange ‘Touchdown’ sign. And the cameraman captures it. And it’s on national television. Yup, CBS, baby!!
Of course, we don’t realize any of this at the time. The first phone call comes in from his best friend and my brother in law does what any of us would do – says “Yeah right” and hangs up. But when the texts and phone calls follow with “Are you in a white jersey holding an orange ‘Touchdown’ sign?” – well, we were converted! Over 80,000 people in the stadium and CowboyChick’s brother in law gets on national television?! That, followers, is surely a miracle.
Oh and we beat the Raiders!! Woot Woot!! How ‘bout that Cowboys Stadium them Cowboys?!

And, where does Wade Phillips fall into this biblical narrative? One can only imagine…
