It was the best of times.
At times, Chad Henne looked like a seasoned pro. He completed a team-record 17 consecutive passes. A Dolphins passing record not held by Marino? No, you’re eyes aren’t fooling you–you read that correctly. Well, I’ll be! Ricky had another 100 yard game again, pounding away. Polite did it again on fourth down. The defense was in top form. Miami went up 14-0 and looked like they would win handily. The Dolphins were a breath of fresh air.

It was the worst of times.
The Dolphins made so many mistakes, particularly in the second half. Ricky Williams fumbled three times, losing the ball once. Davone Bess fumbled and turned the ball over to the Jags. Chad Henne went stone cold in the second half and threw an interception. Dan Carpenter, who is usually rock-solid dependable, missed a field goal. Miami gave up 10 unanswered points to Jacksonville, and once again, the Dolphins found themselves in a fourth quarter showdown. This Dol-fan found herself holding her breath and sick to her stomach. The Dolphins were sickening.

For the defense, though, this was not a tale of two halves.
The Miami defensive unit played a complete game. In the second half, they soldiered on when the offense coughed and sputtered, and coughed again. Randy Starks, Yeremiah Bell, and the rest of the Dolphins defense played their guts outs. Thanks to this valiant defensive effort, the Dolphins were able to make all kinds of mistakes offensively and still walk away with a win. Miami has won four of the last five games, and they are now over .500 for the first time this season. I guess that’s not half bad!

Sorry you spent so much of the game sick to your stomach and holding your breath, but I’m glad the Dolphins came through for you by the end of the game. I know what it’s like to suffer through tough seasons, always wanting your team to be better than it is; I’ve followed the Saints for years. This year seems too good to be true, but I hope it is really true. I hope, too, that the Dolphins continue to improve and to grow stronger. You write a good article, and you follow your team with true loyalty.
