Uh Oh, Raheem-i-o

According ESPN, former Bucs general manager Bruce Allen is heading to the Washington Redskins–a fact that could have serious implications for current Buc head coach Raheem Morris.

Here’s why, in diagram form:

Daniel Snyder wants to hire a new, famous, big-money head coach, both to show the city of DC that he means business and to win a Super Bowl.

Bruce Allen is hired to be the next general manager of the Washington Redskins.

Jon “Chucky” Gruden likes what he sees: a chance to work with compadre Bruce Allen, an owner willing to spend serious dough, and the sort of challenging opportunity that could lead to serious ego-feeding if he’s successful.

Chucky gives his 3-week notice at ESPN.
(NFL Network can tell you all about Chuckie’s proclivity for bailing on verbal agreements.)

Chucky is named head coach of the Washington Redskins.

With Chucky’s new NFL contract in place, the Glazer brothers are no longer required to keep their former HC on the payroll. That saves them $5 million per year.

The Glazers can afford a big-name head coach with an actual resume.

Poor, overmatched Rah and his low, low salary are given the pink slip.

As miserable as this season has been, I’ll give the Bucs one thing: The year has not been boring. (At least off the field.)
