As the clock ticked down, I said to my father-I’m about to be very disappointed, and like clockwork, Mark Sanchez threw his third interception of the game. Such is the Jets season. Lose when they should win, win when you stop expecting it. Such is the case with their latest loss.
Missed opportunities were the order of the day. A missed field goal, a blocked field goal and the inability to score even with excellent field position kept the game losable, and the score at 7-3 with less than five minutes left to play.
This one can’t be blamed on the defense though, they did play well enough to win.
One has to wonder why they made so few attempts to run the ball. On the day, the number one rushing offense in the NFL finished with 99 yards. Thomas Jones normally does that alone on a Sunday-plus some! Not so much yesterday. On a frigid, windy day like yesterday, you would think they would want to run first. I’m not going to continue to armchair QB, though, it’s hard enough to watch the real thing. Sanchez struggled yesterday. He looked uncomfortable in the pocket and never really seemed to find his way. The few good plays he did make (including a 65 yard TD to Braylon Edwards) were just not enough to keep his team in the game.
On the bright side, I don’t have to listen to the pundits talk about all the things that need to happen for the Jets to make the playoffs. I can go back to my December doldrums and look forward to the off season, when everyone has the same record.
