Here’s something to bring all you Saints fans a little holiday cheer; Those players you’ve come to love so much for their talent on the field are total goofballs off the field. And although he won’t admit it, Pierre Thomas may be the goofiest of them all. He’s a certified prankster who’s riding a wave of success that not even he saw coming.
You’ve probably seen him in interviews, all cool, calm and sophisticated but mark my words, this guy’s a character. In fact, in a recent interview with Chicks in the Huddle, he admitted to clowning around with his teammates whenever he can by putting pictures of their celebrity look-a-likes on their locker. Here’s a sample of a few “separated at birth” scenarios Pierre’s brought to life in the locker room.

Not seeing it? How bout this one?

Rapper Pitbull

Yeah…maybe. Okay, here’s another one from the mind of Pierre.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!
Sure it may seem like Pierre’s got waaaay too much time on his hands but his pranks represent an easygoing “bond of brotherhood” the Saints have developed that translates into a (nearly) unbeatable team chemistry come game time. It’s a chemistry that’s been at the heart of their 13-1 start and it’s one they hope will carry them all the way to the Super Bowl.
Saints fans will be honored to know that Pierre includes in the team dynamic the power of the “12th man.” That’s right, all you ravenous Saints fans who show up at the airport to greet the team, know that your efforts are more than appreciated.
“It is nuts. It’s people everywhere. I mean it’s just a wonderful feeling that the fans come out and support like that. It puts a smile on your face.”
Of course, there are those “Who Dats” who might get a little too carried away in their love for all things black and gold. Pierre recalls an encounter with one fan that you might call “wet and wild.”
“I had a lady, an older lady, like kiss me all on my neck. I mean she kinda got my neck wet. It was a lil wild for me. (He pauses… as if he’s reliving the nightmare for a Grand Jury.) It was a lil uncomfortable, too.”
But Thomas takes it all in stride. He fully understands and appreciates how much the team means to the fans and the city. It’s no wonder his wish to Santa this year is something you’ll find on the wish lists of Who Dats far and wide: a chance for the Saints to play in the Super Bowl. It’s a tall order for the big guy to fill, but if Ralphie can get his Red Ryder BB gun, why can’t Pierre get his ring?
Maybe we can sweeten the pot by offering up Pierre as one of Santa’s helpers. After all, he’s already got a good idea as to what would make great gifts for his teammates, other than a Super Bowl ring.
“Lance is the easiest to shop for. I’d get him some shoes. Lance loves shoes. He just loves clothes.”
And what do you get for the teammate who has everything…a.k.a Reggie Bush?
“I’d get Reggie a hat. He’s got like a million hats.”
Any man who’d go accessory shopping for his teammates deserves a little wish granting from Papa Noel. Here’s hoping that this year, it’s in the form of some Super Bowl bling.

Thanks for the christmas present. That was fun!
