Sometimes the Patriots look like Super Bowl contenders, sometimes they look like a bunch of rookies who don’t know the playbook. And the Patriots can be like a box of chocolates- we never know what we’re going to get. Against the Browns, we were a mess on both sides of the ball. The highlight- watching Wes Welker assume kicking duties after Stephen Gostkowski went out of the game. That game could’ve been aptly titled Bleep My Team Does. Then last week against the Steelers, we played a more/less complete game and won.
This week the Patriots take on the Colts in Foxboro. And the story of the game has been/always will be Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning (that is, unless one is hurt or until one retires). Both teams have injury issues, but these two teams seem to bring out the best in each other. Patriots/Colts games are usually close- chess game battles on the field.
Every Patriots fan remembers last year’s game against the Colts. We were in the lead until that pesky 4-and-2 call towards the end of the game that ended up not working, giving Manning the ball with excellent field position. The Patriots would end up dropping that game, and many questioned Belichick’s decision to go for it. If it happens again in this game, will Belichick make the same decision based on last year’s experience? Hard to tell, since the game is different and the team is different.
I’m not going to make a prediction about this game, I’m just going to sit back and try to enjoy it. With a tea since the Patriots tend to get me yelling at the TV.
