Well, It’s All Over…
So long, NFL Season 2009.
It was a fairy-tale ending for the Saints. The usual AFC powerhouses (the Steelers, Colts, and Patriots included) got their fair share of humble pie. One black and gold team handed the championship reins over to another black and gold team. Enjoy it, Saints fans. It’s a sweet, sweet feeling.
2 in a Row? Barely…
Well, you can’t get much closer to losing or winning a game than the Steelers. With some sloppy mistakes and miscues by the Ravens, a few calls that went our way, a huge dropped pass by Ravens WR Derrick Mason, and a big stop (finally!) in the fourth quarter by our defense, the Steelers’ playoff chances are still alive, believe it or not.
So what needs to happen for the Steelers to make the playoffs? According to the NFL, the first thing that needs to happen is that we gotta win against Miami next week. Here’s who has to lose or tie:
Can We Make the Playoffs?
The answer, in short, is yes — provided A LOT of things happen first. What’s most important? Um, winning tomorrow.
After the Steelers’ exciting one-point win during the final seconds against the Green Bay Packers last week, they may have the momentum to get them through a tough division rival on the road to the playoffs. Then again, the Baltimore Ravens are looking better and better. Safety Troy Polamalu is still out…how unfortunate, he really would’ve been utilized for an important game like this.
I’ve Been in Hiding
Not only because it seems to be blizzarding here in New York today, but because the Steelers have lost a bazillion games in a row. They haven’t won since October 25th…didn’t win a game in the entire month of November, against opponents like Kansas City, Oakland, and Cleveland. There are only so many ways I describe how awful this team has been playing. The game tomorrow against Green Bay will say a lot about the team’s character, as it failed in so many ways last Thursday night.
What Is It About “Must Win”…
…that the Steelers can’t seem to understand?
Tomorrow night, the losing boys in black and gold will be taking on the lowly Browns on the NFL Network. Don’t even get me started about how much I hate the NFL Network. I don’t like watching games on random Thursday nights, not to mention the fact that about 5% of the population actually get that channel. Football is for Sundays. And Mondays. Um, anyway, seeing the Steelers lose to a team that’s 1-11 would be the icing on the cake. After the Kansas City and Oakland games, nothing will surprise me anymore.
