Welcome to Buffalo, boys!

Nelson could be considered one of the most polished tight ends we've had. (No pun intended)
The Bills must know I’ll be devoting even more of my life to them this year because they were kind enough to give me four more pieces of eye candy on day two of the draft. Thanks, guys!
Buffalo addressed their next big need right off the bat when they grabbed Southern Miss tight end Shawn Nelson in the fourth round. I’ve scoped out the pictures and needless to say, the Bills made a good choice in more than the talent department. At 6’5 and 240, Nelson is considered the best player we’ve had at this position in years and his speed makes him a match for linebackers. If his stand-out college numbers hold true in the pros, Nelson could be a powerful weapon alongside Terrell Owens and Lee Evans.
We closed out draft 2009 with three more defensive backs: back-to-back Harris’ (catchy nickname pending) from Oklahoma and Southern Cali, respectively, and Ellis Lankster of West Virginia.
Welcome to the Jungle: Lions Draft Day Report

The Lions continued their extreme team makeover this weekend with its high-pressure picks in the draft. The pussycats haven’t won a game since 2007, but they feel the following players are good enough to bring us back to credibility. Let’s welcome them to the jungle!
St. Louis Rams BEEF UP!
So the 2009 NFL draft is officially over and what a weekend it was. There were many surprises and a few SHOCKERS (Can I say…uh hello Oakland…you took who???) Luckily, the St. Louis Rams were a bit more predictable and in the end nabbed two of the hottest commodities in football.
For their first pick in the draft, the Rams wasted no time in naming Jason Smith (OT from Baylor) with the #2 overall pick. Jason Smith gives their porous offensive line a little more beef and a whole lot more athleticism. Admit it Rams fans, it was a bit upsetting seeing Marc Bulger lying flat on his back more times in a game than we saw TD passes. Pencil Jason Smith in as a first day starter…no, better yet, write it in permanent marker. Jason Smith gives the Rams offensive line a solid starter from day one and no doubt a future ProBowler! Not only will he be able to protect Marc Bulger’s blindside, but he will also be able to spring holes for our ALL STAR running back, Steven Jackson.
Meet the Newest Bills!

Maybin brings speed to the pass rush game.
Day one of Draft 2009 is history and it’s clear that the Buffalo Bills have their sights set on those Playoff games.
With an 11th overall pick, they went big and drafted defensive end Aaron Maybin out of Penn State. He was rated 6th best prospect in the overall draft and No. 1 defensive prospect by Scouts Inc. With Aaron Schobel fresh off that foot injury from last season, we need a pass rusher and to add speed to the defense. The Bills are hopeful Maybin, just 21, is the answer. He has the quickest first step of any pass rusher in the draft and versatility, known for being able to play left or right defensive end. He had 12 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in college, so we scored big with this pick. He’ll also be fun to look at (6’4, 250 pounds, coffee sprinkled with skim milk complexion; just the way I like it) and while there’s been some discussion about the weight he’s recently added…I think it’s a delicious asset.
Trojan Man
Sure draft day had about as many surprises as the end of a Jennifer Lopez movie, but what mattered at the end of the day was that just like J. Lo, the Saints got their man. Sedrick Ellis of USC will join the squad as the hotshot defensive tackle that could finally solve the Saints’ pass rush problems. He’s got the versatility, speed, and strength needed to create some pressure up front while taking some heat off the secondary (a.k.a. saving Jason David’s sad ass from a public flogging.)
And it seems the Jason David nightmare could be over for another reason. That’s because the Saints also drafted a corner from Indiana in the second round, Tracy Porter. The former Hoosier had six interceptions and four pass breakups last season and is considered a playmaker in man coverage situations. If he can actually make a play on the ball without wasting time peeking into the backfield, he’s instantly got my vote for a starting gig.
