They Shoot, They Score
We’re not exactly foaming at the mouth when it comes to basketball. But watching the NBA All-Star game is not so much like watching basketball as it is like watching a well choreographed dance scene from the unreleased musical “Grease 3: Dunk is the Word.”
Everyone is in sync at the All-Star game. Enemies become frenemies, if only for one night. And the end result is a treat for all the senses to admiring fans and faux fans like us.
Reasons to Heart All-Star Weekend
You get to experience….
-Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic calling the Dirty Dozen Brass Band the “Dirty Brass Band” while reading the teleprompter like some braces wearing pre-teen in a “Hooked on Phonics” commercial.
-Chris Paul being adorable
-Tim Duncan being yummy
-BJ Armstrong, who played with Michael Jordan in the 90s, still looking young enough to be my kid brother.
-Some dude singing “O Canada” who never would have made it past Paula, Randy or Simon.
Hey Now, You’re an All-Star
It’s All-Star weekend in New Orleans…yay!!! Get ready for a weekend of 3-point shots and gun shots (if it’s anything like last year’s All-Star game in Vegas) as the NBA’s best and brightest roll into town. While the thugs polish their pistols, the Hollywood D-listers are preparing to put their best feet forward at the annual NBA All-Star celebrity game. We’re talking the likes of 2006 American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks, AJ Calloway from “EXTRA,” WNBA player Swin Cash, and the totally irrelevant Zac Gilford of “Friday Night Lights.” Oh, and Alyssa Milano will be there coaching one of the celebrity teams, a.k.a pimping her new sports related clothing line. (All together now: “Ugh!”)
Rock the Vote!
A man named John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of these United States, is responsible for those wise words. Though spoken centuries ago, they ring true now more than ever.
These are turbulent times in our world, times where democracy, freedom, and the very fabric of this nation are in jeopardy. And so it is up to us, a people united, to have our voices heard when it matters most. Therefore, we Chicks urge you to do what’s right for this generation and the next, by casting your vote for the Hornets’ Chris Paul on the NBA All-Star Ballot.
