Quitters Never Win…or Hit It

*Le Sigh* Yet another edition of Jets Chick Hit it and Quit it where there really isn’t much to say because the game came down to one thing going sideways.
Hit it: Braylon Edwards. Just wow. I guess all those people who were in my ear talking about his propensity to drop passes and him generally not being very good (hence why the Jets didn’t have to give much up to get him) are pretty quiet right now. Great first game.
So That Happened

I’ll be honest here. I’m ridiculously upset over this loss. Not only because the Jets lost the opportunity to take sole possession of first place, but because it happened on national television, on Monday Night Football, and against Miami.
I’m pretty sure in my preview I mentioned that if the Jets didn’t win last night there would be clamors for Mark Sanchez’ head. Thing is, he actually played well last night. As did Braylon Edwards, Leon Washington and Thomas Jones.
(Insert the “Debbie Downer” Noise Here)
So the Titans lost to the Colts (awesome!), their most heated division rival (great!), on national T.V. (sweet!), by the largest margin of the season (fantastic!), and are now 0-5 (wonderful!).
Not even my time-tested method of using sarcasm to mask my embarrassing, if not legitimate, sadness is working here! This is disaster and we’re not even to the bye week yet.
After a very momentous few weeks in my life (new job, new town, new age!) I was really hoping that I could make my return to Chicks in the Huddle with a positive, upbeat post. But NOOOOOO. Tennessee had to turn in their worst performance of the season.
2009 Week 5 Recap
Eagles v. Buccaneers, Sunday, October 11, 2009
In attendance: not me! I’m in Orlando at a conference, so it was just Chef Spouse and Ex-Navy Cheesehead. Insult to injury? I only managed to watch the second half, due to conference responsibilities.
Menu: Chef Spouse tells me he made burgers and oven fries, and Ex-Navy Cheesehead brought us a bunch of fine tequila. Me? Green salad with salmon and club soda. Sigh. Conference.
The Buctmus Test
I have a new outlook on Bucs games.
Gone are the days of hoping they may pull out a surprisingly good season à la the 2008 Falcons.
Gone are the days of hoping there will be a strong running game to lean on.
Gone are the days of hoping our highly-paid receivers (ahem, Michael “Not Clooney” Clayton) will catch the ball.
Gone are the days of hoping that newly unsuspended Tanard Jackson will turn the secondary around.
Gone even are the days of hoping that we will see some small improvements on either side of the ball from week to week or month to month.
