Spreading that Saintly Cheer

With the holidays approaching, the Saints are not only busy preparing for the post-season, but they also continue spreading the love to New Orleans-area philanthropies and kids.

Big Night Out

Big Night Out

First off, The Zach Strief Dream Big Foundation will hold its Big Night Out Thursday, 10 December at Generations Hall in New Orleans. This event benefits Cafe Reconcile, a non-profit committed to addressing the system of generational poverty, violence, and neglect in the New Orleans area. Cafe Reconcile provides life skills and job training to at-risk young people through their Central City nonprofit restaurant. The event will feature food from the cafe, a silent auction, and appearances from Saints players. For more information, contact Dream Big Nola. Stay tuned for more coverage from this event.

Drew Brees Goes “Looney”…

…but don’t worry, it’s not in an Owen Schmitt, bashing his head in with a helmet kind of way. Brees is actually starring in his own Looney Tunes style cartoon.

In the words of Wile E. Coyote, “You genius. You’ve done it again.”

Warner Bros. hand-picked the quarterback to be featured in limited edition fine art. The artwork commemorates Brees’ achievement as only the second player in history to pass the 5,000 yard threshold. Sales of the hand-painted artwork will help raise money for the Brees Dream Foundation.

While most football fans are counting down to the draft, we Chicks have bigger, hotter fish to fry. What could be more exhilarating than watching Mel Kiper Jr. get all his draft picks wrong and mocking whoever ends up with the Lions you ask? How about finding yourself caught smack dab in the middle of a Drew Brees-Reggie Bush sandwich. Delish!

Black and Gold Love on Super Bowl Sunday

For one Saint, the chance to shine in the Super Bowl spotlight didn’t die when Robbie Gould kicked our playoff wishes right out of Soldier Field. Usama Young, the team’s second year corner, has a chance to star in his own Super Bowl ad. But he can’t do it without your help!

Be sure to vote for Usama’s NFL Super Ad. All you have to do is click here and you can vote as many times as you want. If Usama’s ad wins, people all over the world will hear the story of how he worked as a vendor during Redskins games as a teen with dreams of one day playing in the NFL. His dreams came full circle when he was given the chance to storm Fed-Ex Field as a Saint this season, in only his second NFL game.

Chick Clicks: Brought to You by…My Hero

You know you’re the man when you don’t set foot on the field and you still get props for being one of your team’s heroes of the week. Deuce a.k.a “Deuuuuuuccceeee” McAllister spent his off day this week helping Feed the Children pass out food and personal care items to more than 400 families at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center. The families were all victims of Hurricane Gustav.
