Hunter: An unexpected hero

This is the first in a series of posts. These posts are just as important, actually even more, as the ones I love to write and y’all love to read during the season. Not only is the off season a time for us fans to recuperate and rev up our delusional expectations for next season, it’s a time to focus on the bigger picture–the people and organizations that are all tangled up in the world of professional football. The things that give the NFL its true value, which goes far beyond supplying superstar careers and weekly entertainment. This first post will introduce you to a little boy who made a ginormous footprint on the world and snuck his way into the hearts of everyone he came across during his eight years on this earth. And who inspired the organization “Hunter’s Hope.”

Bills DOMINATE

Week_17-CM1_6797--nfl_medium_540_360Yeah, yeah, the Bills rolled over the Colts 30-7 in the season finale but it was mostly against their backups, blah blah blah blah. Some call it a cheap and empty win, I say it still feels good. The boys exhibited some borderline amazing gameplay and I can finally say I got to see the Bills win, up close and personal. This calls for storytime.

2010: The Year of the Chick

baby new year

While everyone else is signing their lives away to a gym they’ll only go to the first week of January, the Chicks are getting some other things in order in 2010.

Nola Chick’s Resolution: This year, I will make a valiant effort not to shout “eat their young” as a motivational tool for the Saints defense to get aggressive with their opponents. At least, I’ll try to stop doing it when little kids are standing next to me in the stands.

Mother Hen’s Resolution: I won’t caustically attack the Chicago Bears for no reason, even though there always seems to be a reason….

Hit it and Quit it (really just quit it)

Week_16-DSC2_549--nfl_medium_540_360I can usually come up with a slew of “Hit its” that are really just my attempt at keeping us Bills fans sane and upbeat and away from the dark hole of giving up. But I really don’t know if I’ll be able to come up with more than one or two this week. That’s not me slipping back into the negativity I’ve broken away from, it’s just me keepin’ it real. Let’s play.

To call it a blowout would be an understatement

Week_16-DSC2_538--nfl_medium_540_360So, Sunday’s game against Atlanta was fun…it was a beautiful spectacle of athleticism…it was borderline amazing…not! It was atrocious…it was embarrassing…it was confusing…it was disheartening…but it was also life as a Bills fan, so I’m fine and I’m over it. I bet you guys never thought I would be able to hold on to my “new and improved positive outlook on the season” when I first debuted it a few weeks back…but clearly I have and I think I’ll give myself a pat on the back right about now. Now, let’s  rip through this game recap (31-3) quicker than Marshawn Lynch can lose yardage…ehh, I can’t think of anything quirky, fill it in yourself!
