Saints vs. Cardinals Playoff Recap: “I Got Your ‘Rust’ Right Here”

reggie bush vs cardinals
45 points, 2 defensive turnovers, and an explosive running game: I don’t know about you Saints fans, but if that’s what “rust” looks like, then wrap me in metal and drop me in a bucket of water, ’cause I wanna be “rusty” all the way to Miami! In a fervid, emotionally charged Super Dome, the New Orleans Saints chewed up, spit out, and danced on the remains of the Arizona Cardinals. It was a certified ass whoopin’ and it was a long time coming.

A Message to the Arizona Cardinals: If it’s a shootout you want, it’s a shootout you’ll get!

Aaron Rodgers sure had a heck of a time playing pitch and catch with his receivers against the Arizona Cardinals defense on Sunday. If his offense can put up 45 points in just 3 quarters…just imagine what the “Krewe de Drew” has in store for those desert pigeons.

You see, if there’s one team that can play and win the “shootout” game, it’s the New Orleans Saints. That’s just how our offense is built. And once coach Sean Payton gives the orders, you can count on Drew Brees to “get his Gilbert Arenas on.” He’s coming out guns blazing!

2009 Wildcard Weekend Preview

I think this is the first time in NFL history that the first weekend of the playoffs will feature 3 repeat matchups from the last weekend of the regular season. I’m not sure what that means, but there you have it.

Eagles/Cowboys – Well, there’s been the usual Philly sports media tempest in a teapot about McNabb’s recent comments. What did he say that was so horrible? Quoting Philly.com:

Pack Ready to Attack Cardinals… Again

Who would have thought in Week Nine that we’d be watching the Green Bay Packers take the field in a playoff game mere months later? Most Packers fans hopes for the season were in serious doubt after a bad loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The team that defeated the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday looks like an entirely different group of athletes than earlier in the year. Having won seven of their last eight games, the Packers 4-4 start is merely a distant memory and they are now playing their best football going into the playoffs. Coming off the victory in Arizona, the No. 5-seeded Packers will embark on a rematch to the No. 4-seeded Arizona Cardinals. Players and fans alike are hoping that the 33-7 win from the previous Sunday can and will be repeated.

Da Hot Mess Express Has Left The Station

I knew we were in for trouble yesterday when the temperature hit 72 degrees at Soldier Field (unheard of for a Chicago November), but I woefully underestimated how much trouble was awaiting us.NFL Cardinals Bears

One minute into the game, Tommie Harris was ejected for punching the Cardinal’s Deuce Lutui in the face, long after the play was dead. (Note to Tommie: I realize that for the past two months I’ve been begging you to DO SOMETHING on the field during the 2009 season, but this wasn’t the kind of ’something’ I’d had in mind). This kind of tomfoolery has no place in our line-up, and I hope Tommie finds himself a new home next year.
