2009 Week 10 Picks
This is a tough one to call. We really need it. The Chargers really need it. We’re both at 5-3, running second in our respective divisions and definitely in the playoff hunt (if one can even talk about that as early as week 10). Total offense? We’re ranked 15 – they’re 17. Total defense? We’re 10 – they’re 11. DMac? #9 ranked QB. Know who’s #10? Philip Rivers. They do have a pretty significant advantage when it comes to offensive line – they’re 17, we’re 23, but we’re both in the bottom half of teams, and our QB is significantly more mobile than theirs. Oddly enough, they hold the advantage on passing, and we do on rushing. (Good job, Andy and Marty!) We hold a significant advantage in take-aways – #2 versus #12. Their pass defense is #5, we’re #12. Our rushing defense is #10 (really? check us out!), while theirs is #26 (ouch!).
4th-Quarter Woes
Be still my ever-panicking heart. 28-0 and I’m nervous they could blow the lead? Well, those crazy, pessimistic, wild thoughts almost came true. The Steelers defense decided to take a nap and let the Chargers score twice in the last quarter. The special teams erupted quite nicely with a couple of fumbles that nearly gave the game away. Apparently no lead is safe when it comes to the Steelers. Thank goodness we had a large enough lead to be able to win the game.
A Must-Win
Troy’s out. Willie’s out. Not the best start to a must-win game for the Steelers.
This game could either make or break the Steelers. We got our asses kicked by the Bungles. We’re 1-2, while the Ravens are 3-0. This is a huge AFC contest that could decide the rest of the season. Why do these must-win games have to start at the forth game of the season??
What’s most important is to keep up the momentum with the running game. The Chargers have been allowing just 4.5 yards per carry. Mendenhall was benched last week and has to start this week. That should be interesting.
