Bucs vs. Panthers Preview: Is there a bright side?
I have to admit that when I started writing about the Bucs this year, I had no idea what I was in for. I mean, sure, I didn’t expect much from the newbie team, but I did think maybe we’d win 4 or 5 games–a fate that seemed terrible at the time.
Who knew that we’d be here, Week 13, facing a team that is currently 4-7 and starting an untested backup QB, and I’d still be unable to muster any enthusiasm or hope? Not me, that’s for sure. But I suppose this is a season for the Bucs to build their team and the Bucs Chick to build her character. So, I’m going to be very highly-charactered here and try to look on the bright side, despite my pervasive sense of pre-game dread.
What’d I Miss?
Leave the country for one week, and look what happens. We get creamed by the Pats, rumors run rampant that the team is being sold, the season’s third QB is set to start, and a UFL team kicks dirt in our collective faces? At least I didn’t miss anything good. Man.
So here’s the week’s round-up, with some pictorial support from Bucs Chick-approved photos from Paris and Brussels.
Suck Fest 2009: 1 down.
10 to go.
This was a disheartening loss–or, ok, an unusually disheartening loss–because the Bucs clearly could have won it. Should have won it. But any team that allows their opponents to eat up 94 yards and practically an entire 4th quarter of play is going to lose. Which is what the Bucs did.
There were some glimmers of hope. Tanard Jackson made his non-suspended presence known with an interception returned for a touchdown. Aqib Talib made his presence known by not allowing Steve Smith to make his presence known. (Smith had 1 catch for 4 yards, and is all complain-y now.) Sammy Stroughter made his presence known with a kickoff return for a touchdown, just the third in team history.

I had forgotten how it felt. But I remembered, quickly.
