When Will You Learn Big Ben?
Here we are again, huh Steeler fans? Ben Roethlisberger is once again accused of getting caught up in some drama that not only is an embarrassment to the quarterback but to his fans and the Pittsburgh Steelers organization as a whole.
Roethlisberger is at the center of yet another sexual assault allegation. This time, the accuser is a woman in Georgia. Unlike the previous allegation in Lake Tahoe, where the alleged victim waited two years before she said anything, this woman went to the police the next day and got examined at a hospital.
Can We Make the Playoffs?
The answer, in short, is yes — provided A LOT of things happen first. What’s most important? Um, winning tomorrow.
After the Steelers’ exciting one-point win during the final seconds against the Green Bay Packers last week, they may have the momentum to get them through a tough division rival on the road to the playoffs. Then again, the Baltimore Ravens are looking better and better. Safety Troy Polamalu is still out…how unfortunate, he really would’ve been utilized for an important game like this.
Sooo…That Was Embarrassing…
In case you haven’t heard, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost their fourth straight game to the Oakland Raiders this Sunday. Yep, I still haven’t been able to wrap my mind around this one, either. In true Steelers fashion, the defense wasn’t able to hold the Raiders offense during the fourth quarter…when it mattered most.
All Steelers fans must have felt the same way when Oakland WR Louis Murphy made a reception for a TD with nine seconds left — how on earth did that just happen? How could they have possibly blown yet another lead? QB Bruce Gradkowski, who went to Seton-La Salle in Pittsburgh, threw for a career-high 308 yards in what’s becoming one of the most mind-blowingly awful defenses in all of the NFL.
Don’t Talk to Me
I’m still picking my jaw up from the floor after that one. The Steelers lost to Kansas City (yep, you read that right) after a 22-yard field goal by Ryan Succop in overtime. In overtime alone, QB Ben Roethlisberger got injured after a blow to the head on a short run (negated by a penalty, the Steelers had 8 of those for 85 yards, by the way), cornerback Ike Taylor dropped an interception that would’ve given the offense another shot to win the game, and the defense collapsed when QB Matt Cassel completed a short pass to Chris Chambers, who then proceeded to run 61 yards to set up the game-winning field goal. In summation: Nothing was good about that overtime.
Battle for the AFC North: Steelers vs…..Bengals??
A few months ago, if you had asked any sports pro/analyst/fan who would duke it out for the #1 spot in the AFC North, 98% of you would’ve said Steelers vs. Ravens. Errr…nope! It’s the Steelers and the Bengals, the same Bengals who went 4-11-1 last season, the same Bengals who the Steelers have dominated for the past decade. Both teams suddenly find themselves at 6-2, and this is a must-win for the Steelers to ensure that they have a game to play past January 3.
