Bills/Niners to put up ground fight

It'll be a battle of the running backs when the Bills take on the 49ers in Cali. Some people think San Francisco has this game in the bag because they'll be coming off the hype of last week's trampling of the Jets. I say that Buffalo will be desperate to dry my tears from last week's cruelty and prove that this season is not going to be same old same old, two motivators to come up with a big win. Putting points on the board is No.1 here, but it'll be equally critical that Buffalo's defense takes a look at last week's shenanigans and makes sure it replicates none of them. The Bills gave up 247 yards on the ground against the Patriots and on the flip side, the Niners pounded away for 245 … [Read more...]

Bills vs Pats … shades of 2011?

Last year's celebratory shenanigans.

Last year, right around this time, the Buffalo Bills pulled a stunt so unBillievable that the team's lucky its fan base didn't experience a collective heart attack. They beat the Patriots--in a true nail biter, I might add--for the first time since 2003. Let's take a moment to relive that moment by clicking here. Ok, now that we've got that out of our systems (that was intense), is it too risky to dream of a repeat performance this Sunday when the Bills host the Pats at The Ralph? I have jinxing paranoia but there are just some things at play that I can't ignore, and that gives me hope I might be able to relive last year's jumping-on-the-booth-too-overwhelmed-to-breathe moment of victory. Things … [Read more...]

8 Things I Learned in Week 3

tempDSC_4157--nfl_mezz_1280_1024

My reaction to this week's win against Cleveland was almost as lackluster as my excitement leading up to the game. I think I'm still suffering residual effects of Week 1's trauma at MetLife and have yet to fully lift the veil of numbness that overtook me that dark, dark day. I spent most of the game freaking out over CJ Spiller. Not knowing the extent of his injury was torture and being the hypochondriac, overreact-or that I am, I spent the game creating worst case scenarios over four pitchers of beer and generally ignoring my drinking partner's attempts to sort of calm me down (Ladies, you know that men aren't great at that. When we're upset, we don't always want to be told "it'll be fine," … [Read more...]

B-Lo is back with big win

The Bills beat the Chiefs 35-17. I'd like to take a moment to thank the Buffalo Bills for saving me a lot of time and money on therapy. Technically, it's the least they could do, since they were the reason for my impending self-imposed intervention/treatment. CJ Spiller's glorious 123 yards and two TDs, Fitz's nerve-wracking 34 yards rushing, Leodis McKelvin's 88-yard punt return and the secondary's overall competence preserved my sanity...for now. What's more impressive than the win (and the chance to watch all the haters try to pretend like it didn't happen) is that the Bills didn't just squeak out a victory, they delivered it with all types of red, white and blue flare. Spiller was … [Read more...]

Bills Hope to Raid the Raiders

Oakland+Raiders+v+Buffalo+Bills+Or6bnRuPtuFl

If the Buffalo Bills can pull off a win at the Ralph for their home opener against the Oakland Raiders, it would surprise just about everyone except myself and the other few thousand die-hard Bills fans who never stop Billieving (surprisingly, some of us aren't even in AA or heavily medicated yet). A win would also mark the first time since 2008 the Bills started a season 2-0 and would rub salt in my wound (right above my heart) since for the first time in a long time, I'm missing the home opener. Here's what MUST happen to prove last week's win wasn't a fluke. 1) The Bills must stop Oakland's rush. Everyone expected Kansas City's RBs to bowl over the defense since it was ranked dead … [Read more...]
