Hit It and Quit It Bucs-Style: Week 13

So little to say that I haven’t already.
Except this: Bah Humbug. ‘Tis the season.

Hit It: After a horrible start, the defense shored itself up and allowed only 6 points in the final three quarters. (Hey, that’s really good for us!)

Quit It: Josh Freeman threw 6 INTs, including 3 in the red zone. That’s 8 INTs in the last two games.

Hit It: Joshy F. is still the Bucs’ best hope for the future. Plus, he did have 321 passing yards. Just none that counted.

Hit It and Quit It Bucs-Style: Week 11

Chicks, I let the previous two weeks cloud my judgment. I had a momentary outburst of hope and thought that the Bucs might win a few more games this year. But don’t worry, a clobbering at the hands of the Saints followed by another stormy few days in the ranks of the coaching staff has cured me of that hope.

Hit It: The Bucs’ kick return team is still number one in the league. And both our win against the Packers and our near-win against the Dolphins depended on Clifton Smith and the special teams. (Which, really, could be like the name of a ’50s band.)

Suck Fest 2009: 1 down.

10 to go.

This was a disheartening loss–or, ok, an unusually disheartening loss–because the Bucs clearly could have won it. Should have won it. But any team that allows their opponents to eat up 94 yards and practically an entire 4th quarter of play is going to lose. Which is what the Bucs did.

There were some glimmers of hope. Tanard Jackson made his non-suspended presence known with an interception returned for a touchdown. Aqib Talib made his presence known by not allowing Steve Smith to make his presence known. (Smith had 1 catch for 4 yards, and is all complain-y now.) Sammy Stroughter made his presence known with a kickoff return for a touchdown, just the third in team history.

Ok, I didn’t call the game results exactly right. But maybe because my expectations weren’t really that high, and maybe because I had the flu this weekend (not of the porcine variety, thankfully), I kind of enjoyed the game anyway. Or at least didn’t feel like crying hysterically afterward. The Bucs played basically how I’d thought they might, but there were a few surprises, good and bad.
