Cutler and Da Bears Visit Grandpa For The Holidays
Tommorrow afternoon, Da Bears are heading up to Minnesota to pay Grandpa Favre a little holiday visit. I’m not the least bit optimistic about the outcome of this game. We’ve lost the last four games in a row, and the Vikings have won the last four.
That said, to humor my fellow Bears fans, I’ve compiled a list of creative reasons why I think we might have a chance to win tommorrow’s game.
1. We’re due for a win, and Minnesota is due for a loss. Da Bears have a strange way of beating great teams and losing to bad ones. It’s our specialty. I still can’t believe we beat the Steelers earlier this season.
Vikings? Check.
The Steelers are 5-2. Yours truly had the pleasure of going to the game with her lovely parents last Sunday to see how the Steelers became 5-2.
It wasn’t the best game all around (Vikings dominated nearly all of the stats), but it was certainly exciting. I think I took a good 10 years off of my life with the interception…then run back after the kick off…then interception.
I’m Going!
So I grew up near Pittsburgh in a little suburb called Sewickley (check out the photo, ahh nostalgia, and yes, it’s usually always that gray)…spent 20+ years there, from pre-k to high school. Then I randomly went from St. Louis to Birmingham to Florida to New Jersey to New York City, so you can definitely say Pittsburgh still feels like home to me.
However, it’s kind of weird that I haven’t visited my home in over 5 years. But now I’m going back, baby!
That Hurt.
Attention Ted Thompson: Brett Favre had a message for you last night during the Packers 30-23 loss to the Vikings. And he spelled it out pretty clearly: R-E-V-E-N-G-E.
What can I say? Favre was every inch of the quarterback that the Packer franchise came to know, love and worship for 16 years. With no turnovers in sight, Favre went 24 for 31 and connected for three touchdown passes and 271 yards. Not too shabby.
It’s Been Pretty Quiet…
…on the Steelers front. I think a lot more Pittsburghers (including this one) are focusing on the Penguins in the Iron City sports world. The Pirates? Yeah…let’s not talk about them. So, the Penguins are one game away from winning their playoff series against the Washington Capitals. They got to Game 7, which is on tomorrow night and promises to be very enthralling (definitely interrupting my plans to watch the Lost season finale!!). Of course, I’ll always be a die-hard football fan, but I’ll 100% admit that watching the Penguins has been pretty exciting. A Super Bowl AND a Stanley Cup? I think that’s a lot for this Pittsburgher to ask for, but one never knows…Awww, just look at Sidney’s “shut up I’m concentrating on how dreamy I am” face, he’s so cute.
