Pack Ready to Attack Cardinals… Again

Who would have thought in Week Nine that we’d be watching the Green Bay Packers take the field in a playoff game mere months later? Most Packers fans hopes for the season were in serious doubt after a bad loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The team that defeated the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday looks like an entirely different group of athletes than earlier in the year. Having won seven of their last eight games, the Packers 4-4 start is merely a distant memory and they are now playing their best football going into the playoffs. Coming off the victory in Arizona, the No. 5-seeded Packers will embark on a rematch to the No. 4-seeded Arizona Cardinals. Players and fans alike are hoping that the 33-7 win from the previous Sunday can and will be repeated.

(Packers) Chick in the (Windy) City

As a Packers fan living in Chicago, I must admit to the sweet satisfaction I feel each time the Bears lose. Walking in to my Bears-fan-filled office on Monday morning is like Christmas day. This week, I’m hoping for a particularly sugary Sunday when the Packers take on the Bears at Soldier Field in the city.

Defending Titletown

roller-coaster There’s no doubt about it, this season the Green Bay Packers are riding one heck of a roller coaster wrought with highs, lows, drama and disquiet. First there was the whole Favre thing—yes, I know, we’ve heard enough about the emotional turmoil resulting from a former quarterback turning to one of our biggest rivals. That “will he/ won’t he” mentality was followed by the much-hyped game against the friend-turned-foe that the Packers lost. Badly. When Favre returned to Lambeau to once again defeat his former backers, Packer fans kissed their hopes of a NFC North divisional title goodbye. A loss to the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought out dismal thoughts of a loss-ridden season, which can only be topped off by Favre having one of his best seasons of all time.

Who Moved My Cheese?

I’ve been to Wisconsin. I drove there from Chicago, where we live now, and on the way I saw a sign on the highway that nearly made me slam the brakes. It said – drum roll please – “The Cheese Castle.”

You can only imagine what ran through my mind, which was of course “An ACTUAL castle MADE of CHEESE?!” I had visions of walking right up to that Taj Mahal and taking a bite right out of a corner. Would it be cheddar? Blue cheese? Huh! Gouda?! And, where there’s cheese, of course, there’s wine (insert giggle).

I was Wrong. So wrong.

Last week we weren’t a great football team; we were a good football team.

After Sunday’s loss to the 0-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I think it’s safe to say the football we’re playing right now is not even classified as good.

Aaron Rodgers had a tough game, going 17-of-35 for 266 yards, with two touchdowns and a season-high three interceptions. The Packers outgained Tampa Bay in total yards 404 to 279, yet we still lost with a whopping 38-28 defeat.
