Super Bowl 44 Preview
I’ve been putting off writing this post. As I tweeted to Tweety Monster the other day:
I have 4 days to convince myself the Saints can win & write about it
Time’s up.
And my heart says Saints.
But my head…my head says Colts.
There is no “owed” in football. Just ask Eagles fans.
And the Saints a great story this season, but you don’t always get the storybook ending. Just ask Jeff Garcia about the 2006 season. Or Jaws about 1980.
This Just In…The Colts Need Freeney
So I’ve held off writing about this because I feel like he’s a big tease. Who? My husband Dwight Freeney. No we aren’t married but I wouldn’t mind if we were. All week he’s been saying he “hopes” to play in the Super Bowl. Well don’ t we all.
Freeney injured his ankle in the AFC Championship Game nine days ago. He said chances of him practicing the rest of the week are not good. It’s day two and no practice yet. He’s listed as questionable on the Colts’ injury report and is the only starter on either team who might
miss the game because of injury. He hasn’t decided whether he’ll take an injection in the foot that might help reduce the pain and allow him to play against the Saints. TAKE THE SHOT DWIGHT!
2009 Conference Championships Recap
Colts over Jets.
Well, yes. Philly.com did a fun “10 things about the…” for each of the games. I still think that the thing that was the most amazing about this game was that the Jets managed to hang in there for the first half. Hell, they were leading at halftime. Of course, they didn’t score another point. But still, rookie QB? Not bad.
AFC Championship Recap: Colts remind Jets who they are…now let’s cue the Peyton and Archie video…Ughhhh!
We’ve all seen it. We saw it when Peyton was the big time college star. We saw it when he DIDN’T win the Heisman that he was supposed to. We saw it when he was drafted #1 in the NFL draft and we see it any time he does something that his dad Archie didn’t do. What is it? The video clip of Peyton in the Saints uniform as a kid. Let’s get the storyline out of the way. New Orleans own Peyton Manning will take on his dad’s former team in the Super Bowl. We good now? Great! Now back to how this happened.
2009 Conference Championships Picks
Saints/Vikings – Everyone’s all “Brett Favre’s got the experience” and “Jared Allen’s a monster” and “Adrian Peterson’s occasionally able to hang on to the ball” and whatnot. But they’re playing the NFC Championship Game in the Superdome for the first time EVER. And the Saints have in some cases almost single-handedly been holding Crescent City together since Hurricane Katrina. And they are NOT going to let their fans down now.
To quote my friend Joanne:
