Saints Chick Chattin’: Deuce is Back and a Chat with Charles Grant

After a long self-imposed computer hiatus (actually it was the computer and Mercury Retrograde attacking me—I can sound like a New Age hippie during my weaker moments), I am back up and running with lots to fill my little chicks on.

The Deuce is Back

The Deuce is LooseIs it that Mercury Retrograde ends today or that there’s a solar eclipse? Not sure what’s going on with our wacky astrology, but one thing I know is that earlier today the New Orleans Saints re-signed our glorious Deuce McAlister.

Good day indeed and all this confirms that we are so going to the Superbowl.

More to come when we receive further updates, so stay tuned.

And, welcome home, Deuce!

Spreading that Saintly Cheer

With the holidays approaching, the Saints are not only busy preparing for the post-season, but they also continue spreading the love to New Orleans-area philanthropies and kids.

Big Night Out

Big Night Out

First off, The Zach Strief Dream Big Foundation will hold its Big Night Out Thursday, 10 December at Generations Hall in New Orleans. This event benefits Cafe Reconcile, a non-profit committed to addressing the system of generational poverty, violence, and neglect in the New Orleans area. Cafe Reconcile provides life skills and job training to at-risk young people through their Central City nonprofit restaurant. The event will feature food from the cafe, a silent auction, and appearances from Saints players. For more information, contact Dream Big Nola. Stay tuned for more coverage from this event.

We are contenders. We are New Orleans. We are America.

The Saints ARE America's Team

The Saints ARE America's Team

The Statue of Liberty sports the following quote:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Starting in 2006, the Saints became the personification of the Statue of Liberty for the NFL and I’m not referring to the play. They took shots on players considered past their prime. Since our acquisition of Drew Brees, the team has consistently put faith in those too old, too much trouble, too much attitude, and too injured, most recently being eight days ago.

Saints Chick Chow: Clammed Up Patsy Chowder

Oh, here it is…the game that everyone has been waiting for…the one that will determine if the Saints are for real or if they are those ole lovable losers who haven’t played a “real” team yet this season. While the media’s attention to this game has bordered on nauseating, I must admit that I do love this showdown. Both teams will face a huge challenge Monday night.

The Saints defense will have a challenge ahead of them when they face off with Tom Brady, Wes Welker, and Randy Moss. Our banged-up secondary is holding their own, despite the injuries, and we recently signed Pro Bowl cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Mike Mckenzie who both may see some time this Monday night.
