This October, Do More Than “Think Pink”

If you watched any NFL games on Sunday, then you already know from all that pink what time of year is upon us. No, it's not Hello Kitty's birthday. It's October, which means the NFL is doing its part to increase breast cancer awareness through the "A Crucial Catch" campaign. As part of the campaign, players, coaches and referees will once again be decked out in their prettiest shades of Pepto. The league is also auctioning off pink merchandise to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Every October, the NFL goes all out to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month by turning practically everything game related into something out of Malibu Barbie's lookbook. It's a well-meaning campaign that not only pays tribute to players whose loved ones have been affected by the disease but it raises millions of dollars for breast cancer research. And yet, despite all that life-saving, salute-a-survivor goodness, some fans have found a reason to gripe about it?? The NFL and Your Boobs

It's October, which not only means the Lions are a quarter through their campaign to go winless, but it also means it's time for the NFL to "think pink." The league's breast cancer awareness campaign will be on display this weekend. That means everything from pink ribbons on footballs to pink chin cups and even pink whistles for the refs.
