Knock on Woodson: Green Bay’s Cornerback Named Defensive Player of the Year
It’s no secret that Charles Woodson did not want to play for the Green Bay Packers. Let’s be honest, Green Bay doesn’t exactly have the best reputation for young super star athletes looking to make the most of their fame. It’s a small town, it’s cold, and it most certainly takes a certain amount of adjustment. To outsiders, the appeal of Green Bay is slim. However, to those who know and love the land of the frozen tundra, Woodson got lucky with Green Bay, and as it turns out, Green Bay got lucky as well.
2009 Wildcard Weekend Preview
I think this is the first time in NFL history that the first weekend of the playoffs will feature 3 repeat matchups from the last weekend of the regular season. I’m not sure what that means, but there you have it.
Eagles/Cowboys – Well, there’s been the usual Philly sports media tempest in a teapot about McNabb’s recent comments. What did he say that was so horrible? Quoting Philly.com:
Pack Ready to Attack Cardinals… Again
Who would have thought in Week Nine that we’d be watching the Green Bay Packers take the field in a playoff game mere months later? Most Packers fans hopes for the season were in serious doubt after a bad loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The team that defeated the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday looks like an entirely different group of athletes than earlier in the year. Having won seven of their last eight games, the Packers 4-4 start is merely a distant memory and they are now playing their best football going into the playoffs. Coming off the victory in Arizona, the No. 5-seeded Packers will embark on a rematch to the No. 4-seeded Arizona Cardinals. Players and fans alike are hoping that the 33-7 win from the previous Sunday can and will be repeated.
I’ve Been in Hiding
Not only because it seems to be blizzarding here in New York today, but because the Steelers have lost a bazillion games in a row. They haven’t won since October 25th…didn’t win a game in the entire month of November, against opponents like Kansas City, Oakland, and Cleveland. There are only so many ways I describe how awful this team has been playing. The game tomorrow against Green Bay will say a lot about the team’s character, as it failed in so many ways last Thursday night.
(Packers) Chick in the (Windy) City
As a Packers fan living in Chicago, I must admit to the sweet satisfaction I feel each time the Bears lose. Walking in to my Bears-fan-filled office on Monday morning is like Christmas day. This week, I’m hoping for a particularly sugary Sunday when the Packers take on the Bears at Soldier Field in the city.
