The Saints’ Pierre Thomas Makes Santa’s List for Naughty and Nice

Here’s something to bring all you Saints fans a little holiday cheer; Those players you’ve come to love so much for their talent on the field are total goofballs off the field. And although he won’t admit it, Pierre Thomas may be the goofiest of them all. He’s a certified prankster who’s riding a wave of success that not even he saw coming.
You’ve probably seen him in interviews, all cool, calm and sophisticated but mark my words, this guy’s a character. In fact, in a recent interview with Chicks in the Huddle, he admitted to clowning around with his teammates whenever he can by putting pictures of their celebrity look-a-likes on their locker. Here’s a sample of a few “separated at birth” scenarios Pierre’s brought to life in the locker room.
13 and Inches: The Saints’ Pierre Thomas on the Run to Perfection
When New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas scores a touchdown and looks to the sky, he’s not checking for rain or waiting for fireworks. He’s thinking about his Grandpa Crockett, the man who passed away too soon to see what the Chicago native would become. James Crockett was a major figure in Pierre’s life as a child. He died shortly after Thomas started playing football, never getting a chance to watch his grandson chase his dreams. So, instead of using touchdowns as a way to show off his dance moves, taunt opposing fans, or don a beret and mustache on the sidelines in some PR stunt, Thomas points to the sky as a sign of love and respect for his grandpa.
Saints Chick Chow: Virtual Brownies for Our Virtually Unstoppable Punter

Enjoy those brownies, Thomas!
If you happened to read my interview with Thomas Morstead from earlier this week, you know that a member of his family brings him brownies to eat before every game and during halftime. It started off with his grandmother dropping him off the goodies prior to a game when he was a student at SMU and it became a family tradition.
Saints Chick Chow: Chickpea Soup
Over the course of the season, the Saints have delighted their fans with outstanding performances: from Drew Brees who has thrown to so many receivers that I’ve lost count, to running backs who held the game together for us last week against the Bills, to our defense who are ranked in the top ten, much to the chagrin of the NFL. Heck, we can even give props to our special teams players: Thomas Morestead who is proving that he was worth the trade and Malcolm Jenkins who has done so well on special teams that he will probably see starting action this week in the secondary.
It’s football Sunday and I’ll cry if I want to

Chris Kelsay had a great first game back from injury. Too bad he couldn't enjoy it.
I didn’t actually cry on Sunday; while extreme emotions like anger or frustration tend to bring on the waterworks, I think I was too agitated to do even that. What I did do was draw an inordinate amount of attention to myself at the sports bar down the street. Between jumping out of the booth, clapping and whooping when something encouraging happened (which wasn’t often)–and bothering the people at the booth behind me by crawling all over the seat and peering at the TV over the partition because I was too anxious to sit still–and letting out the most unattractive and un-feminine groan when disaster struck (ahem, the whole game)–and spending the entire 4th quarter jumping up, spinning around, stomping my foot, throwing my glasses, smacking the table and exclaiming in random people’s ears–I basically made a pretty respectable scene for a 5-foot 105-pound chick. However, in the future I’d prefer not to define football Sundays by how drastic my meltdown was.
