Farewell Fujita

I was watching the Oscars when I heard the news. According to The Plain Dealer, Scott Fujita is no longer a Saint. Thank goodness I had the John Hughes tribute featuring the likes of Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, and a very terrifying Judd Nelson to comfort me.

Fujita’s decided to seek greener pastures by signing with, of all teams…The Browns? Uh…that’s sort of like trading in a Ferrari for a Toyota Tercel. But hey, I guess once you’ve got the ring, it’s all about the money. Although I’d have to imagine there’s not enough gold in the U.S. Treasury that would make Cleveland sound appealing. Ick!

Free Agency Free For All!!!

Charles Grant, Jamar Nesbit, and Mark Simoneau now have something in common with millions of Americans. They’re unemployed! But don’t go crying for them, Argentina. Unlike the rest of us schmucks, they’ve got a cush bank account to fall back on and a fabulous parting gift from their old job in the form of a Super Bowl ring. (Bet all you got was a security escort out the front door when you got the boot…)

Super Bowl Fun…It Just Doesn’t Get Old

For the fans of 31 teams in the league, the Super Bowl was sooooo last month. But for Saints fans like me, oh this feeling is just never gonna get old.

For those of you who missed the video recap, I thought I’d share some of my fun photos with you. That’s right, I’m like that co-worker you hate who insists on showing you every picture she’s ever taken of her baby because yes, the Super Bowl experience was my baby. I want to hold it and squeeze it and love it name it “Drewsilla.”

NFL Sunday Mourning

It’s been three weeks since the Saints won the Super Bowl but this past Sunday was the first Sunday I found myself feeling that sense of emptiness. Oh you know what I’m talking about football fans. It’s the feeling you get when it all hits home…the football season is over. Sundays are no longer about following fantasy players and cheering on the home team while enjoying a drunken beer-fest with friends. Now, the beer-fests remain but it’s just not the same when there’s a Lifetime movie on in the background.

UPDATE: Video of the Jazz Funeral for the ‘Aints is below…

The New Orleans ‘Aints, the former leaders of the Who Dat Nation, died on February 7th, 2010. The cause is said to be a combination of factors brought on by years of abuse and neglect along with blunt force trauma sustained when a powerful Brees thrust them in the path of some oncoming Colts.
