Wake Me Up Before You Go Go: Packers Come Up Short

While starters for both teams stayed on the sidelines, the 2nd and 3rd string teams were left to battle it out in this Preseason finale. With roster cuts due August 31st at 6:00pm, this was the chance for players in the balance to make one final impression and hopefully make the 53-man team. This is very important for the players, but for the fans (myself more specifically), nothing could be more uneventful. However, there were some points worthy of discussion… In the first play of the game, starting cornerback Tramon Williams intercepted a pass thrown by Chase Daniels. Williams was held out for the entire preseason due to a bruised bone. I am hoping that this play is a sign that he … [Read more...]

Replacement Ref-Gate:The Pain Returns

I think that I should start this article with a disclaimer…I am NOT speaking for all Green Bay Packers fans. I am only speaking for myself. With that being said, Friday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks was personal for me. I’m pretty sure that everyone remembers the Seattle Seahawks “victory” against the Packers last season...the Hail Mary on the final play that was ruled to be a simultaneous catch by Seahawks Wide Receiver Golden Tate. The motions of the Replacement Referees still resonate in my mind from that controversial game, and a revenge victory was simply befitting. However, with a 17-10 loss in the books, it’s clear that things didn’t quite go our way. The only solace I … [Read more...]

Bye week? What bye week? VY stays busy.

What's my QB doing this week? Watching Peyton take on the Eagles? Did he watch his Texas Longhorns lose again? Nope. Vince Young is opening a restaurant.  The Vince Young Steakhouse opening Friday nuight near the Austin Convention Center, not too far from Interstate 35/U.S. Highway 290. A statement on the Vince Young Steakhouse website says the restaurant will "search out only the finest ingredients, stay as local and seasonal as possible and constantly strive for perfection." The restaurant is not Young's first foray into the food business. Following in the footsteps of fellow Longhorns legend Earl Campbell and former Houston Oilers head coach Bum Phillips, Young developed his own … [Read more...]

Shots Heard ‘Round the League

In news of the odd and absurd... Jacksonville receiver Kassim Osgood leapt out a second-floor window to escape a gun-wielding man who attacked him and a 19-year-old Jaguars cheerleader, according to police. The armed intruder exchanged gunfire with his ex-girlfriend, Mackenzie Rae Putnal, after putting a gun to her head Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Putnal escaped, running downstairs in her parent's home and grabbing a gun. They both missed. According to the sheriff's report, Osgood, 30, sustained some minor bruises during the attack and while fleeing. The Florida Times-Union first reported the incident. Julian Armond Bartletto, 20, of Jacksonville, was … [Read more...]

Tennessee’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Game

Do I have to write this recap? Please don't make me! What an ugly, ugly game. I mean awful. Just the worst. I've been dreading this post since the final second ticked from Pittsburgh's massacre of the Titans. Mainly because there is not one positive thing I have to say about what transpired. During last season's six-game losing streak, there were still glimmers of hope - usually in the glorious shape of Chris Johnson. But this game? A MESS. Where should we start? Turnovers, you say? Why not! The number seven has never been so unlucky. Vince Young (more on him later) threw two picks, second-half reliever Kerry Collins threw one, and the team lost four fumbles - emphasis on LOST, because … [Read more...]
