“We’re From Philadelphia and We Fight.”

Eagles 54, Bears 11, Sunday, December 22, 2013 Well that was unexpected. A week after laying an egg in the Metrodome, the Eagles came out in a game that was, for them, meaningless (thanks to the Redskins who literally cannot do a single thing right this year), and utterly dismantled the Bears, who only had the NFC North title on the line. Stud of the week: man are there a lot of candidates, but I think I'm going to have to go with my boy Brandon Boykin who, after suffering a concussion last Sunday and missing most of practice this past week, came in and was his usual excellent self on special teams AND grabbed his first pick-six of the year. The points were kind of … [Read more...]

2013 Week 16 Picks

Prime time game! (Please don't screw up, guys.) This is going to be a tough test for the Eagles. Although Jay "Picks" Cutler can be counted on to, you know, throw some picks, the Bears also have one of the best wideout duos in the NFL in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. And, as you may recall from the previous 3 1/2 months, the Eagles secondary is not exactly lights-out. Fortunately, the Bears defense is even worse. And the Linc is no longer poison. And the Eagles had their trap game last week. And if the Eagles can win and the Cowboys lose, the NFC East crown is back where it belongs in South Philly. And (spoiler alert!) the Eagles will know that it's all up to them by … [Read more...]

I Didn’t Get EVERYTHING I Wanted…

But it was still a pretty nice Christmas gift. Eagles at Cowboys, Saturday, December 24, 2011 Happy holidays, y'all! Whatever you celebrate, and whoever you celebrate with, I hope you had a good time. I certainly did, watching the Eagles stomp the Cowboys for the second time this season. Stud of the week: Alex Henery. On a day when David Akers set the single season field goal points record, Henery made his 14th straight and his first over 50 yards. I actually noted the Akers' record on Facebook and got "thank you" comments from a number of my 49ers-loving friends. I know, I know - who cares about a kicker? Well, I do. I was very fond of David Akers and very sorry to see … [Read more...]

2011 Week 16 Picks

This week, the Eagles travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys at home on Christmas Eve. In their last meeting this season, you may recall that the Eagles whupped up on the Cowboys to the tune of 34-7 at the Linc (one of the few home games the Eagles have won this season). It's really hard to beat a divisional foe twice in the same season. The Eagles may be heating up, but Dallas reeled off 4 wins after that whupping in week 8 before dropping their last two, to the Giants and the Cardinals, who inexplicably seem to have had the NFC East's number this year. This really could go either way. Both teams can score points. Both teams can force turnovers. Both teams can commit … [Read more...]

Andy Reid’s Secret Master Plan?

Eagles v. Vikings, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 And stick with me here. Stud of the week: ... ... ... Damn. Even David Akers missed a field goal. Even Sav Rocca had a bad punt. I think I'm going to have to go with Chad Hall who, while he didn't do anything particularly amazing, did manage to earn himself a place in training camp then on the practice squad then on special teams by sheer heart. We're probably not going to be talking about retiring his number in 10 years or anything, but you gotta love the little guy anyway. Man, did I get killed in my picks this week. And not just on this game. I also have a confession to make. I didn't watch the end of the game. … [Read more...]
